THE PILGRIM TRAIL

The trail passes through Oppdal, from Hjerkinn in the south to Rennebu in the north.

Whether you want to walk from Hjerkinn to Nidaros or only parts of the route, we guide half-day tours up to 6-day journeys all the way to Trondheim.

We begin at Rennebu church and the milestone that marks 108 km to Nidaros. Pick up the first stamp in the pilgrim passport.

The first overnight stop along the route. Gentle terrain on gravel roads and forest paths leads us to this welcoming lodge.

Meldal

Ner-Grefstad farm

Stage: 18 km

Thursday 24 July 2026

Walk through scenic farmland with gentle terrain. Overnight at the cozy Ner-Grefstad farm.

Stop 4

Løkken Verk

Historic mining town

Stage: 20 km

Friday 25 July 2026

An 18 km stage to Gumdalen via the historic Løkken Verk. Pause by the old mining community before overnight stay at the guesthouse.

Skaun

Beautiful church

Stage: 20 km

Saturday 26 July 2026

We walk through farmland on trails and country roads. Guided visit in Skaun church before heading to Sundet farm.

Stop 6

Sundet farm

By the Trondheim Fjord

Stage: 19 km

Sunday 27 July 2026

Forest trails lead us toward the fjord. A traditional rowboat crossing brings us over to the farm, just like generations before us.

Monday 28 July 2026

The final 20 km to the goal. Through fields and forest until Trondheim appears, then through the city to Nidaros Cathedral and the Pilgrim Center.
